This happens for all machines the user logs in to. If the location is different from the GPO, it attempts a move. What will you do with users who don't log in for a long period of time? Do you plan to keep both servers available for a long period of time?Īlso, do you know how the GPO detects a move? When the user logs in, the GPO checks a registry key in the user's profile to see where it redirected files to last time. It's not great to have all users move their data at logon time - many users logon in a short period of time in the morning - and the data move could take quite some time.
That being said, the "Move contents" option in the GPO is a dangerous one. A method that doesn't work is never a good one to use.
